Long black nodachi and Red Nodachi

Odachi or nodachi was a type of traditionally made Japanese sword used by the samurai class of feudal Japan. Odachi are difficult to produce because their length makes traditional heat treatment more complicated: The longer a blade is, the more difficult (and expensive) it is to heat the whole blade to a homogeneous temperature, both for annealing and to reach the hardening temperature. The quenching process then needs a bigger quenching medium because uneven quenching might lead to warping the blade.

All our katana swords are hand forged by swordsmiths,  the forging time about 7-15 days. For some high-performance swords may require longer hand-forged processing time, depending on the difficulty of the craft.

Legally Katana are lumped in the same category as knives and governed by state rather than federal laws and local laws, though as with katana, a collector must be over 18 years old OR have their parents implicit permission to buy or own a Katana.
